Abstract

UCSB will be welcoming writer, historian, and activist Rebecca Solnit in a talk with Dr. Leah Stokes and Nikayla Jefferson on June 2nd, 2023. They will be discussing a new anthology edited by Solnit, Not Too Late, and there will be a book signing afterwards. Biography

Rebecca Solnit is a writer, historian, and activist who has authored twenty books on topics ranging from feminism, the environment, western and Indigeneous history, politics, and art.

Dr. Leah Stokes is the Anton Vonk associate professor at UC Santa Barbara, an adviser to Rewiring America and a host of the podcast “A Matter of Degrees.” She is a policy expert with nearly two decades of experience working on climate and energy, including championing a federal Clean Electricity Standard.

Nikayla Jefferson is a Political Science PhD student at UC Santa Barbara, where she researches American environmental politics and social movements. She also co-founded the Sunrise Movement San Diego in 2019.
